Young readers are also invited to join our summer book club. Participants will earn one free book to keep for each ten they read. The official reading log can be picked up at the library.
Petoskey resident and retired jourmalist Fred Gray will be at the library on Thursday, July 9 at 7:00 pm to present his new book "That's Outrageous". Mr. Gray's book is a collection of essays and anecdotes originally published over eight years in the Petoskey News-Review. The Friends of the Library will hold their annual fundraising sale on August 12 through 14, at the Glen Arbor Township Hall. Thousands of books and other materials will be available. Donations for the sale may be dropped off at the library during normal business hours. Selected newer books are available for sale at the library, just inside the main entrance, throughout the year.
The Friends are also hosting this biennial fundraiser, on Thursday, July 23. The tour will highlight five distinctive homes in the Glen Lake area. Tickets are $15, and can be purchased at the library itself, the Cottage Book Shop in Glen Arbor, or from members of the Glen Lake Garden Club and the Friends of the Library.
Paintings by Empire native Mary Sharry are featured over the summer. Mary's work is inspired by our local environment, highlighting the unique sky and lakescapes that define this area.
This book discussion group meets at the library on the last Wednesday of each month at 10:15 am. Their lively meetings are open to the public. Here are some of their most recent selections:
