Stories and More

This weekly program for preschoolers takes place every Thursday morning at 11:00 am, from September through May. Under the supervision of Bonnie Kay, an early childhood education specialist, preschoolers enjoy stories, music, dance, and hands-on art and craft activities. No registration is required – just drop in and join the fun. This is a great way for young children and families to discover all the library has to offer.

Mackinac Bridge: a 50 year Chronicle
The library will host a presentation on Thursday, April 24 at 7:00 pm, by Mike Fornes, author of “Mackinac Bridge: a 50 year chronicle, 1957 – 2007”. This pictorial history is the result of Mr. Fornes’ extensive knowledge of our states landmark bridge. His visit is part of the Library of Michigan’s Notable Book Tour, a statewide celebration of the best of recently published books about our state.

Annual Vintage Book Sale
The Friends of the Library will hold their next annual sale on August 13 and 14, 2008, at the Glen Arbor Township Hall. Thousands of books and other materials will be available. Selected newer books are available for sale at the library, just inside the main entrance, throughout the year. Profits from the sale directly support the library. Donations for the sale are always welcome and may be dropped off at the library during normal business hours.

Art in the Meeting Room
A complete collection of posters for the annual Manitou Musical Festival is now on display. The posters feature works by various local artists, and date back to 1994. This collection is on loan from Barb Siepker of the Cottage Book Shop in Glen Arbor.

Numerous area artists have displayed their work in the library over the years. Some pieces have in fact been donated and are in our permanent collection. Artists who would be interested in exhibiting their work should feel free to contact the library.
